The world-famous Marina di Porto Cervo in Sardinia is one of the best equipped and most welcoming ports in the Mediterranean. With a stunning blend of old and new, the Old Port at the East Dock (part of the village of Porto Cervo) blends seamlessly with the modern pontoons of the New Marina at the Marina Village.

The combination of traditional and modern facilities has resulted in a port renowned for its efficient services. Boasting 700 berths complete with electricity and a water supply, the marina is open all year round.

The site includes the Cantieri Porto Cervo boatyard that provides repairs and maintenance for sailing and motor yachts up to 45 metres long.

Port history

Porto Cervo is located on a cape at the bay of the Gulf of Arzachena, on the Costa Smeralda coastline. The quaint village itself was designed in the 1950s by landscape designers and architects including Michele Busiri Vici, Luigi Vietti and Jacques Couelle.

After Prince Karim Aga Khan became fascinated by the beauty of the coastline, the area's transformation into a tourist port began in 1962. He purchased the land and constructed the first hotel.

The village of Porto Cervo nestles along the coastline in the deep natural bay, with the docks offering stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. Spanning to the foot of the slopes of the surrounding hills, the village’s name, Porto Cervo, translates to "deer's horns" in English - so called due to the horn-like shape of the natural bay.

Just south of Marina di Porto Cervo, Vecchio Porto is another working port that was built in the 1960s - both ports make up the village of Porto Cervo. Of the two, Marina di Porto Cervo is renowned for its superior facilities for seafarers and tourists.

Local attractions

The beautiful Marina di Porto Cervo has some of the most luxurious facilities in the world. In the summer time, a parade of stunning yachts lines the bay, their owners enjoying the many exclusive events and parties that take place in the surrounding area.

In the centre of Porto Cervo, visitors can take a fascinating walk from Chiacchiere’s Square to the Sottopiazza, taking in the beautiful architecture of the quiet alleys, balconies and ornate windows, constructed in the traditional style of the Costa Smeralda.

The square facing the old port has stunning views of the exclusive yachts moored in the crystal waters, surrounded by beautiful villas. The picturesque church of Stella Maris also provides stunning views of Marina di Porto Cervo.

It's a fascinating place after dark, with the lights of the amenities reflecting on the water to create a magical atmosphere.
